About GoTravelChina
Licensed guides. Verified sources. The real China.
GoTravelChina is an independent, UK-registered travel service that connects international visitors with officially licensed Chinese guides and maintains a source-verified English-language reference to China's most significant attractions.
What GoTravelChina is
GoTravelChina is a travel service and reference for international visitors to China. It does two things, and does them to a defined standard: it connects travelers with officially licensed local guides, and it maintains a source-verified reference to the country's most significant attractions — spanning China's UNESCO World Heritage Sites and its National 5A Scenic Areas, the highest tier in the national rating system.
It is built for travelers who want the real place, verified — not the version pieced together from anonymous reviews.
Every guide is licensed
Every guide on GoTravelChina holds an official tour-guide licence issued under China's national tour-guide qualification system, administered by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. They are certified professionals — local, vetted, and accountable — not hobbyists or freelancers sourced from a listings site.
This is the difference between a stranger with local knowledge and a licensed guide operating under a national standard.
A verified reference, not a review site
Our attraction records are built to a documented editorial standard and checked against primary, Tier-1 authorities — the UNESCO World Heritage Centre, China's Ministry of Culture and Tourism, and the National Cultural Heritage Administration. We do not build factual claims on user-generated reviews.
Descriptions are original and sourced, never copied. Operational details such as tickets and opening hours are verified close to publication and dated. Where a fact cannot be confirmed against an authoritative source, we mark it as unverified rather than guess.
Our editorial standard
- ✓Primary sources first: government and heritage authorities before anything else.
- ✓Original writing only: concise summaries built from cited sources, never scraped passages.
- ✓First-hand experience: guidance written by the licensed guides who work each site.
- ✓Dated and fresh: operational details carry a verification date, not an assumption.
- ✓Explicit uncertainty: when we cannot confirm something, we say so.
Independent and accountable
GoTravelChina is operated by GoTravelChina Ltd, a private limited company registered in England and Wales — company number 17228993, incorporated in 2026. We are independent: we earn through commissions on the guided experiences booked through the site, never through paid placement or advertising. A guide's ranking, or an attraction's, is editorial — and is never for sale.

Founded by Qianyi Liu
GoTravelChina was founded by Qianyi Liu. Born in Wuxi in 1998 and educated in Nanjing before a master's degree at the University of Sheffield in the United Kingdom, she spent two years as an auditor at KPMG in London — working on financial-services banking audits — before leaving in 2025 to build GoTravelChina full time.
The idea came from her own marriage. Qianyi is Chinese; her husband is Swiss. Over three years she brought him back to China six times, across cities and provinces most Western itineraries never reach, and watched him fall for the country the way she hopes the wider world one day will. GoTravelChina is how she set out to share it — working hand in hand with licensed local guides to bring her culture to Western travelers, accurately and first-hand.
Her background is not incidental to how the site is built. The same auditor's instinct for primary sources and verifiable facts is why GoTravelChina rests on Tier-1 references and dated, checked information rather than anonymous reviews.
“I left a career in audit to do this because I want to share my culture with the world — properly, and through the people who actually live it.”
