Terms of Use
Plain-English version of the rules for using GoTravelChina.
Last updated: April 2026. By using GoTravelChina you agree to these terms. Where a regulator or court of competent jurisdiction grants you stronger rights than these, those stronger rights apply.
What GoTravelChina is
GoTravelChina is a marketplace that connects travellers with independent licensed local guides in China. We facilitate the booking and communication; the actual tour is provided by the guide directly. We're not a tour operator and don't employ the guides.
Bookings
When you send an enquiry, the guide can confirm, decline, or propose a change. A booking is only binding once the guide has confirmed. Either party can propose changes (date, pick-up, traveller count, etc.) through the in-chat "Propose a change" flow; both must accept for changes to take effect.
Cancellations
Pending bookings (not yet confirmed by the guide) can be cancelled by either party at any time at no cost. Confirmed bookings are subject to each tour's cancellation window. The window is shown on the booking page after confirmation (e.g. "Free cancellation until Sat 25 Apr, 09:00"). Inside the window, cancellations through the platform are not available; please discuss directly with your guide.
Communications & off-platform bookings
Chat is for trip logistics — questions, pick-up details, clarifications. Bookings, changes, and cancellations should happen through the platform's booking + amendment flow so both parties have a clear record. Soliciting payments outside the platform, sharing personal contact details to bypass our fees, or marketing third-party services in chat are all breaches of these terms and may result in account suspension for either side.
Reviews
After a tour is marked complete, both parties may leave a review. Reviews must be honest and based on first-hand experience. Manipulating reviews — fake bookings, paid positive ratings, retaliatory negative ratings — is grounds for account suspension and removal of the offending content.
Account & data
You can delete your account at any time from your account page. Deletion is permanent and removes your profile, bookings, conversations, and reviews. Some anonymised audit trails may be retained where required for tax, accounting, or legal-records purposes. See our Privacy Policy for details on data we collect and our sub-processors.
Liability
GoTravelChina facilitates the marketplace; the tour itself, its safety, and accuracy of the experience description are the responsibility of the guide. We make reasonable efforts to verify guide credentials but cannot guarantee any specific outcome. To the extent permitted by law, our liability is limited to the platform fees you have paid us in the preceding twelve months.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms occasionally. Material changes will be notified by email and posted at this URL with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use after the change constitutes acceptance.
