Pingjiang Road
Pingjiang Road — Suzhou's most beautiful canal street
Highlights — Why we like Pingjiang Road
Intro
Pingjiang Road is the best-preserved historic street in Suzhou — a 1.6-kilometre canal-side lane flanked by Qing Dynasty whitewashed buildings, stone bridges, and weeping willows. Traditional teahouses, silk shops, and small restaurants line the street. It is the most atmospheric place in Suzhou to walk, eat, and absorb the city's ancient canal character.
Best Time to Visit
Morning or evening. Spring for canal-side willows.
Getting There

Local Tips
Morning and evening are quietest. The northern section is more authentic and less commercial than the southern end. The teahouses along the canal are excellent for afternoon rest.
