Saint Sophia Cathedral
Saint Sophia Cathedral — Byzantine Orthodox church in the heart of Harbin
Intro
Saint Sophia Cathedral is the most iconic building in Harbin and the most significant example of Byzantine Russian Orthodox architecture in China. Built in 1907 and expanded in 1932, the cathedral's distinctive onion domes and red brick exterior stand in extraordinary contrast to the modern Chinese city around it. Now a museum of Harbin's architectural history, it is the centrepiece of the Harbin Architecture Arts Square.
