Highlights — Why we like Taihu Lake

AA

Intro

Taihu Lake is the third-largest freshwater lake in China, covering 2,338 square kilometres and surrounded by some of the country's most prosperous and historically significant cities. For visitors based in Wuxi, the lake is the defining natural feature — best experienced from the Yuantouzhu peninsula (Turtle Head Isle) during cherry blossom season, or by boat to the Sanshan Islands. The lake has inspired Chinese painters and poets for two millennia. At sunset, with the light playing on the vast expanse of water and the distant hills, it earns its reputation as one of China's great landscapes.
