Overview

Yunnan Nationalities Village is a sprawling open-air museum and cultural park on the shores of Dianchi Lake, showcasing the architecture, crafts, costumes, and performance traditions of 25 of Yunnan's ethnic minority groups. Each group has a dedicated village compound with authentic buildings and resident artisans. Daily performances of traditional music and dance take place on the main stage. It is a condensed introduction to Yunnan's extraordinary cultural diversity — useful context before exploring the minority villages in the province's more remote areas.
