Highlights — Why we like Temple of Heaven

AAA

Intro

Built in 1420, the Temple of Heaven is where the Emperor of China performed annual ceremonies praying to heaven for good harvests. The complex covers 273 hectares of park, with the circular Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests at its centre — a triple-gabled hall on a triple-tiered marble terrace, built entirely without nails. The park is beloved by Beijing residents for morning exercise: arrive before 8am to see tai chi, ballroom dancing, and traditional music under 600-year-old cypress trees.
