Intro

The Big Wild Goose Pagoda (Dayan Ta) is one of China's most famous Buddhist pagodas. Built in 652 AD during the Tang Dynasty to house Buddhist scriptures brought from India by the monk Xuanzang (the inspiration for the Monkey King legend), the 64-metre pagoda has been rebuilt and restored several times. The surrounding Da Ci'en Temple complex is one of Xi'an's most atmospheric religious sites.
