Highlights — Why we like Kowloon Markets

AA

Intro

Kowloon's markets represent the unfiltered, commercial, working-class Hong Kong that existed before the finance industry transformed the island. Temple Street Night Market (open from 6pm) stretches several blocks with stalls selling everything from jade jewellery and counterfeit goods to electronics and clothing, surrounded by fortune tellers and outdoor Cantonese opera performers. The Jade Market nearby opens in the morning and sells jade pieces from ¥10 to tens of thousands. Ladies' Market on Tung Choi Street is the territory's most famous budget shopping street.

Best Time to Visit

Temple Street: 7pm–midnight. Jade Market: 10am–6pm. Ladies' Market: noon–10pm.

Getting There

MTR to Jordan (Temple Street) or Mong Kok (Ladies' Market).
