Victoria Peak
The definitive Hong Kong panorama — the city from 552 metres above
Intro
Victoria Peak is the highest point on Hong Kong Island and offers the most famous view in Asia — the clustered towers of Central and Wan Chai rising from the harbour, with Kowloon's dense urban grid beyond. The Peak Tram, a funicular railway operating since 1888, climbs the steep hillside from Central to the Peak in 7 minutes. The viewing platform at the Peak Tower offers 360-degree panoramas.
Best Time to Visit
October-December for clearest visibility. Early morning or after 10pm for fewer crowds.
Highlights
Getting There
Peak Tram from Garden Road, Central (lower terminus). Alternatively Bus 15 from Central Bus Terminus or taxi. The Peak Tram runs from 7am to midnight.
Tickets & Entry
Peak Tram return HK$88. Sky Terrace 428 additional HK$63. Peak Tower admission free.
Practical Tips
Visit on a clear day — cloud and haze can obscure the view entirely. The tram queues can be very long on weekends and holidays (1-2 hours). Take an early morning tram for short queues and clear air. The Sky Terrace 428 viewing platform (¥HK63) is worth the extra cost.
