Intro

The Tian Tan Buddha (Big Buddha) on Lantau Island is one of Hong Kong's most impressive sights — a 34-metre bronze seated Buddha on a hilltop at 520 metres, reached via the Ngong Ping 360 cable car (5.7km, the world's longest gondola). The surrounding Ngong Ping Village has the Po Lin Monastery, a vegetarian restaurant, and walking trails through the hillside. The nearby Tai O fishing village — accessible by bus from Ngong Ping — is one of the last places in Hong Kong where traditional stilt-house fishing communities survive.
